Dave Porter | Dave was a co-founder of CorePower Yoga in the USA, one of the largest national groups of yoga studios.
From 2001 to 2008 he was an integral part of building the business as co-founder, owner, Director and lead teacher. Dave played an important part in building the business from its humble beginnings and was lead instructor for hundreds of instructors nationwide, teaching, mentoring and grooming instructors and support staff and building a powerful brand. He also managed the hiring and training of teachers and support staff and led ongoing teacher trainings teaching hundreds of teachers during his tenure.
Dave believes in a world class yoga experience and strives to bring that into his joyful and powerful classes which are about working hard and feeling good, rather than just looking good. They are about healing your mind and body and about bringing balance into your life and world. His challenging and fun classes connecting breath, body and mind will leave your feeling a bit more aware, a bit lighter, more appreciative of each moment you have been given, more present. His class may help create some transformation that might open your heart a bit and allow for a place where you can let go and enrich the flow of your life.
Andrew Gowans
| Andrew’s teaching has evolved into alignment focused Vinyasa flow, reflecting his love of mindful movement. His greatest teaching influences have come from the senior teachers at Yoga Works in Los Angeles. Owning a yoga studio in Boulder, Colorado, has given Andrew the opportunity to teach in one of the yoga hotspots of the USA. His classes are physically challenging and feature a music mix that could include reggae, rock and devotional tunes.
Through his classes, Andrew’s, aim is to lead students to a place of stillness. This sense of finding ones center creates the opening required to experience life as it happens.
Andrew teaches Vinyasa yoga and introductory Zen meditation courses (Zazen) at yoga life.
Jessika Munnell | Jessika has been teaching yoga for over ten years and continues to be intoxicated with the practice. She believes the yoga mat is a place to explore both physical and mental boundaries. A chance for change and growth.
Jessika encourages students to learn to practice intuitively, listening to what the body needs at the present moment rather than being dominated by the ego and forcing themselves into some “perfect” posture. In this way, the asana practice can heal and strengthen the body and open the mind. Jessika encourages students to practice quieting the mind and experiencing the present moment. Ultimately she hopes everyone will extend the physical practice of yoga into all aspects of their life, through acts of kindness, love and compassion.
Jessika teaches Vinyasa yoga and her own hot yoga sequence, developed after many years of teaching Bikram yoga. She brings a fun and light atmosphere to her challenging classes.
Jessika was a former co-owner of yoga zone in Cape Town. She decided to expand her yoga horizons and moved to Boulder in Colorado to open a new studio. Frequent trips to Los Angeles enable Jessika to learn from some of the best Vinyasa teachers in the United States.
Maritz Steyn | Maritz has been teaching vinyasa flow classes for the last eight years. His classes are challenging with a powerful interplay of strength and gentleness. His well-structured class explores posture, breath, and mind through movement. A conscious choice of music supports the flow. Maritz encourages students to build their yoga practice with compassion and awareness. He emphasizes honouring our own unique growth, pace, strength, flexibility, and balance.
Maritz has developed his instinctive body awareness throughout his life through gymnastics, dance, physical instruction for the SANDF, teaching pilates, massage, and movement fusion. He has a deep respect for the complexity of yoga philosophy, with its ancient roots meeting our modern ways of being. He encourages the greater development of yoga through instruction in philosophy, breathing, and meditation.
Maritz is also a practicing developmental coach and massage therapist. Completed 200 & 500 hour advanced yoga teachers training course in Australia 2007, and continues his education through a variety of workshops in various yoga disciplines.
Mariah Betts | Mariah has been living, studying and teaching yoga across the United States for the last 6 years. An athlete through out life, Mariah found yoga in the late nineties as a way to focus the mind and gain more awareness of the body. She believes it is through our physical body that we have access to the subtler energetic parts of ourselves.
Mariah’s classes blend elements of strength, precision, breath, music, fun and philosophy. Her style draws from experience as a human, a yogini, a coach and holistic health counselor. She encourages students to find individual expression, to feel their power and move deeper into their True Self.
Mariah finished her first yoga teacher training with Ana Forrest in 2004, after originally studying Bikram and Ashtanga vinyasa. She was trained by Jessika Munnell to teach Jessika’s hot yoga sequence in 2008, and completed her second 200 hr Maya Yoga training with Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane in 2010.

Her classes are creative and intuitive with a good balance of alignment, flexibility and strength.Her journey of formal learning started with an intensive Teachers Training in Asthanga Vinyasa with an Australian based yoga school, Yogarts in Bali. A two year Bihar teachers training in Pretoria to learn more about the theraputic aspects of yoga. Courses on Lymphology and cleansing to purify the body. A trip to India to study Siviananda yoga in Kerala and most recently an Intensive Ashtanga based teachers training with Shimon Ben Avi to deepen her understanding of yoga philosophy.
